Another one of the key factors in increasing your page rank is the number of inbound links to your website. This is commonly referred to as link popularity.  Simply put, the more links to your website from other quality websites the higher your page ranking will be.

There are several ways that you can get your website linked onto others sites.

Reciprocal link

A reciprocal link is a mutual link between two objects, commonly between two websites to ensure mutual traffic.  For example, if you are in a Networking group you might trade links on websites for noncompetitive business leads.  For example, a Travel Agency might share a link with a Wedding Planner or a Florist and vise versa.  Related service relationships like these can increase business and web presence.

Blog Comments

When you post a comment on a relevant blog always include your signature.  Although it is not guaranteed to count as a inbound link (website owners can restrict this through meta tags) it might lead to incidental traffic to your site and generate business.

Association/Chamber of Commerce Links

If you are a member of your local Chamber of Commerce make sure that your website address is included in your directory listing with the Chamber or Association.  Not all Chambers offer this but if they do make sure you take advantage of it.

Joint Promotions

If you participate in a Joint Promotion, such as a radio advertising campaign where you make special offers available only to listeners of a particular radio station you can might be able to  get an advertising spot on their website.

Paid Banner Ads

Many Website owners will consider including a banner advertisement directly linking to your site. Use caution when paying a banner advertising agency. In many cases paid banner adds will use a pass though link to their system and then direct the link to your site. While this provides traffic it does not provide an inbound link.

Community Forums

Many communities have forums that you can comment on.  Like Blogs though, these might not result in links back to your site due to meta  tag restrictions.
